Palatinus - Original Art

I started the outline for this piece months ago and left thinking...what on earth was I trying to create? It had just the large squarish shape and adjoining towers. Then one day after starting at it for awhile the idea was born. I wanted to name it something to represent a palace or palisade..the word 'Paloquin' kept coming into my mind. Finally I decided on the Latin word Palatinus because it reminded me of what a Roman emperor would envision. I also experimented with a colored pencil background that has been 'rubbed' together for a smooth transition of color. Marker/Colored Pencil on paper. 24x18, mounted, matted and sealed.
